National Annus Vertere

(July 1976)

The parade.
Decorated cars.
Fire trucks.
Clowns.
The Crowd.

Cheering
And the laughter.
The fire cracker
A smoke bomb.
The children.

Flags
And soldiers.
Games to play.
The booths.
A logging show.

Fireworks.
Red.
White.
Blue.
And other colors too.

Like a clap of thunder;
The sound of rockets,
In flight.
O can you see
By the dawns early light.

A nation.
Newly formed.
A struggle to survive.
And the flag,
Still flying.
